Omnimed is Attending Health 100 – Decarbonising the NHS

Omnimed’s John Wood, Commercial Manager, and Ben Lonsdale, Eco Supply Chain Assistant, are attending Health 100 – Decarbonising the NHS on 4 February 2025 in London.

In 2020, the NHS became the first health service in the world to commit to net zero, recognising climate change as a major threat to public health. The Delivering a Net Zero Health Service report outlines the NHS’s carbon footprint and the steps required to achieve net zero. With healthcare responsible for five percent of the UK’s total emissions and fifteen percent of NHS emissions coming from its estates, there is an urgent need for action.

The Decarbonising the NHS conference will bring together key stakeholders to share progress, discuss challenges, and set more ambitious sustainability goals. It is an opportunity to learn from real-world case studies and drive meaningful change in the sector.

Omnimed is committed to supporting the NHS on its journey to net zero by helping implement greener supply chains and sustainable procurement strategies, particularly in supporting goals for Green Endoscopy. Reducing the environmental impact of endoscopic procedures is a critical step towards net zero, and we are dedicated to working with healthcare providers to introduce more sustainable solutions without compromising patient care.

We are particularly looking forward to hearing from Stephen Linksted, Director of Carbon Catapult, on “Helping organisations achieve decarbonisation goals”, and from Lucas Rodriguez and Tom Wright of Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust on “Working in partnership to achieve net zero goals”. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we are making internal changes to ensure Omnimed becomes a more sustainable supplier. Through a range of internal initiatives, we are actively reducing our carbon footprint and improving our supply chain's environmental impact. Details of both completed and planned carbon reduction initiatives can be found in our Carbon Reduction Plan.

If you are attending, let’s connect over a coffee or lunch. We would love to discuss how we can work together to build a more sustainable healthcare system. See you there!
